The Day of Pink as a Transformative Event-Free-Sample for Students

Question: Pick a transformative event. You can not pick the case of theNishyuu Walkers. There are numerous authentic and recent developments about transformative change inside a culture. Answer: The Day of Pink as a transformative occasion Transformative occasions are occasions that are executed or begun to change a current circumstance or untouchable. One such occasion is The Day of Pink which is one of the greatest transformative occasions that has affected a large number of lives the world over. It was started to restrict harassing of any sort and particularly to forestall homophobia, transmisogyny and transphobia. It is likewise evident that April 11, 2018, the International Day of Pink is commended everywhere throughout the world and has decidedly affected individuals everywhere throughout the world. It helped address an issue that was long not discussed and required voicing (Jong, 2015), diminished pessimism and affected existences of a few youngsters across Canada just as different nations of the world. In actuality, it has diminished ailments identified with dysfunctional behavior and handicaps. The most significant concern which estimated the accomplishment of this occasion was the effect it made on youth. Measurements guarantee that around 21 nations and a huge number of individuals around the globe support this occasion from the year 2018 (Parker et al., 2014). It affected schools in Canada to receive strategies to forestall harassing. It has given a stage to understudies and children to make some noise about their issues that they face. Unique classes are designated to confer information and make understudies mindful of the fact that it is so critical to regard individual mates and make them mindful about the results of tormenting from an exceptionally youthful age. It has likewise helped understudies that experienced harassing become liberal and helped them to discuss their encounters without feeling embarrassed or regretful of either their encounters or sexual direction. The effect on transgender of Canada has likewise been valuable and permitted them to regard themsel ves and acknowledge being unique. In actuality, UNICEF in Canada has taken up measures alongside the legislature to spread mindfulness about the significance of compassion and consideration. The occasion has made an effect sufficiently able to draw in the consideration of the legislatures (Maikey Stelder, 2015). In the region of Alberta and the territories of Newfoundland and Labrador the legislature is taking up activities to make the residents mindful of the equivalent. In Newfoundland and Labrador, the administration has given around $20,000 to just about 38 schools so as to perceive and value their endeavors towards a sheltered learning condition. The administration serves in Alberta including instruction serve, David Eggen and social administrations serve, Irfan Sabir themselves are progressively taking an interest in occasions on Day of Pink to advance the battle against tormenting. Indeed, educators and every single other sort of staff at school were instructed about the significance of this day through govern ment workshops and meetings and on this day even these experts donned pink alongside the understudies to show the significance of the day. Another manner by which the International Day of Pink turned out be a triumph is the lesser known effect that it has made on ladies particularly in the building area in Canada. It has prompted more noteworthy interest of ladies workforce in designing firms in Canada (Jong, 2015). Aside from this, different restrictions that existed in the designing part like generalizing the working environment culture or framing the direction of a person as the premise to advancements in this segment have progressively improved. Better wellbeing and security measures have been executed and psychological wellness is given as much significance as physical wellbeing now. Assorted variety of workforce and helping individuals who have relocated to this nation gain aptitudes and work in this division are additionally being exceptionally looked for after the festival of Day of Pink was authoritatively taken up by the specialists in Canada. Despite the fact that the Day of Pink has prompted decrease of harassing in schools and has prompted better psychological well-being conditions, information from Mental Health Commission of Canada, predict that despite the fact that the pace of tormenting has diminished, tormenting still exists (Knaak, Modgill, Patten, 2014). The type of tormenting has just changed and has moved more to the utilization of web based life and telephones. It has been accounted for that when an individual arrives at the age of 25 years, in 20% cases, he creates psychological instability out of the past tormenting encounters that he more likely than not looked in his youth. Despite the fact that the legislature has moved and concentrated on the angles and effects of harassing, it was at that point past the point of no return before these measures were taken thus despite the fact that the more youthful age are honored with the chances of being dealt with similarly, the age that has just gone through the negativism as for tormenting are enduring even at this point. Shockingly, the area of populace related with cures and fixes and mindfulness is path lesser than the segment that has been seriously affected. This area of populace in Canada represents most of the convicts in the nation who are related with wrongdoing and mental precariousness. It has been accounted for that despite the fact that the administration is attempting to decrease this damage, through projects at school, the emotional wellness and mindfulness among guardians and kids brought into the world with incapacities is likewise significant (Knaak, Modgill, Patten, 2014). This is so on the gr ounds that psychological wellness of guardians completely makes sway on their youngsters disregarding programs held at school and kids growing up with inabilities have either higher odds of getting harassed or themselves transforming into menaces. To close, it tends to be said that Day of Pink has had the option to drive the world towards a superior future and is gradually turning into a significant day that is being praised and will be commended for the years to come. Despite the fact that instances of harassing are as yet announced, Day of Pink has had its own way of progress and diminished the paces of tormenting and school. It has figured out how to catch the consideration of the administration and to teach better qualities in kids. Segregation of any sort isn't socially satisfactory as it spreads negativism and ought to inevitably be disallowed in all nations around the globe. Global Pink Day is an activity that is helping in its own specific manner to add to this movement and help diminish separation based on social marks of shame. References: de Jong, D. (2015). Wheels Novel Shane free essay sample

Shane perceives Jess as an outsider to the normal group of people he socializes with. Jess ignores the signs and tries to create friendship between Shane and her by creating an atmosphere full of happiness and gives Shane a gift while he is in hospital. Shane starts to see Jess as a very thoughtful person when he opened his gift and revealed an electronic chess board. Shane remarks that he does not know how to play chess, and is thankful when Jess enlightens him that she will come over every weekend and teach him how to play. The relationship between the two characters at this point has not truly started yet, with Shane still wary about Jess. Shane and Jess’s relationship starts to grow and becomes closer and closer later on in the book. Shane is grateful that Jess is the only one from school who has visited him since he came to rehab and unlike their first interaction, Shane is now eager to see Jess when she comes ever weekend to rehab and challenges him in a game of chess. Like most relationships between people there will always be hiccups along the way. We are confronted with a change in progress between Jess and Shane’s relationship when they are fooling around in the hospitals gymnasium. Jess challenges Shane to a wheelchair race and questions Shane to whether she can use his new chair. Thinking twice, Shane agrees and let’s Jess use his new chair that is far lighter than the hospital chairs that she generally uses. Giving Jess a head start, Shane quickly catches her with a great amount of effort. Shane finishes first and while he rests, he watches Jess finish speeding towards him with fear covering her face. Shane I can’t,’ she shrieks and at that moment she collides with Shane. Jess lays on top of Shane at this point, only centimeters away from his face. Jess looks into Shane’s eyes and surprisingly to Shane, Jess kisses him. Shane finds himself kissing back without realizing what is going on. Shane becomes puzzled on what has just happened and has an aggressive outbreak at Jess, telling her that he is ‘Not a friggin’ charity case! ’ Jess responds with sadness saying that Shane is stupid if he thinks she only kissed him because she feels pity towards him. As Shane watches Jess leave, he realizes that the relationship between him and Jess now, is very brittle. A week after their dispute, Jess returns like every other weeked to challenge Shane to another game of chess, not acknowledging their fight. When Shane returns back at school, he notices that Jess is back to her old dorky self again. He attempts to thank Jess for the wheelchair access but she quickly becomes shy and leaves, leaving Shane confused. He is amazed by the way Jess responded to seeing him and at this point the relationship becomes awkward once again. The relationship starts to even out when Shane is told that Jess’s dad didn’t die, he in fact left her family when she was only a child. Wanting the relationship to heal, Shane reacts in a nurturing manner giving support as she cried. Jess notices that Shane is not irritated about her lying and is relieved. After a lot of thought, Shane realizes that he and Jess have always had a bond even through their ups and downs and knows that it is more than friendship. Shane convinces himself to ask Jess the big question, unaware that his friend Ryan is at her house. He arrives at her front gate with flowers on his lap that he had previously bought from a nearby florist, with the flowers specially picked out for her. Abruptly, Jess comes out of the front door with Ryan following, grasping her hand. At this stage Shane is confused to why they are together as Jess and Ryan walk over to greet him. Jess reveals that Ryan bet him to it and they are now a couple as Shane sat shocked in his chair. Although he is upset, he states that he is happy for the both of them. Jess acknowledges the flowers on Shane’s lap, knowing that it is too late Shane that they are for his mother to save the embarrassment. The relationship between Jess and Shane has now become awkward due to the fact that Jess is now focusing on Ryan instead of Shane but still remaining close friends. Until the last number of pages in the novel, the relationship between Shane and Jess remained the same. Shane has always been uneasy about Ryan and Jess dating but has always covered it up when they are around only wishing that he was in Ryan’s position. Before his Nationals race, he is asked out by another competitor at his racing school. Shane reveals that it is Jess that she likes, knowing his feelings are for only her. Rachel gives Shane advice pointing out that he should tell Jess that he likes her, slowly building Shane’s confidence. He finally decided to tell Jess that he loves her, Jess did not react but quickly became nervous leaving Shane quite anxious as he punched the wheels on the wheelchair and sped off. Their relationship at this point is building but still remains awkward from when Shane told Jess he loved her. It wasn’t until a week later when Jess went to Shane at his home to congratulate him about making Nationals. Everything was usual until Jess told Shane that she had broken up with Ryan and that she had feelings for someone else who turned out to be Shane. At this leg in Shane and Jess’s relationship, they are both interested in each other and are closer than any other point in the book. In conclusion, whilst observing the relationship between Shane and Jess, you are shown their friendship between the two characters is genuine and that it turns out to be more.

House Of The Spirits Quote Journal Essays - Nivea, Shamanism

House Of The Spirits Quote Journal . . . it made no difference if they studied medicine or had the right to vote, because they would not have the strength to do it, but she herself [Nivea] was not brave enough to be among the first to give up the fashion. (6, Ch 1) The women in this society are dependant on the dominant male figure to handle political and economical duties. This point of view is intended to mimic the older generation of women ad present a foundation for the growth of an enlightened generation. Allende uses this excerpt to present a foundation of structure to the novel by beginning with the extremes of opinion, which are followed in the novel through different generations. Alba for example, become a very outspoken activist by trying to attend the student protests and follow Miguel on his demonstrations, a sharp contrast to the indifference or shallowness found in her great grandmother. It was the custom then for women and children not to attend funerals, which were considered a male province. (34, Ch 1) Allende utilizes this quote to demonstrate a beginning of plot development by showing elements of a patriarchal society and present the past limitations of women as lower class members of this society. This point of view also is seen from a narrator that exists in the future and is reflecting on past customs and while doing so insinuates that this class limitation will go through change and possible elimination during the course of the novel. It begins a structural approach of presenting to the reader a metamorphosis of womens role in society through time. I would never find another woman [Rosa] with her green hair and underwater beauty. (35, Ch 1) Green is the color the ocean and a symbol of blossoming and awakening while water is pure and innocent. It has a middling quality and mediates between two extremes, or two political standpoints (Socialism and Conservatism). Life ascends from red and blossoms in green, a feminine color of childbearing, as is seen through the many generations of green haired women. Green is a color of hope, strength and longevity, where Clara and Rosas hair help represent them as a very natural and bold feminine aspect of the book. Rosas blossom between green leaves and the symbolic name of Rosa sets the organic tone of femininity found within her sibling, Clara, also because she posses supernatural powers of the clairvoyant. I would like to have been born a man, so I could leave too . . . And I would not have liked to be a women. (45, Ch 2) These two phrases are said by Ferula and her brother, Esteban Trueba, in a bicker about the care for their mother. Ferula is stuck in a position as a maternal figure, to care for the dying mother while Estebans masculinity allows him to enter the world carefree and to start a new life for himself. Free of the chains of Ferulas obligation, her brother has the nerve to confess to her that he understands that women are not given equal opportunity while disregarding her dilemma for selfish purposes. His shallow point of view and strict desire for personal gain characterize Esteban as a careless exploiter of the male favored society and set a trend of irresponsibility that reoccurs in his disrespect for other lower class workers as well. This is a different country. Here the Conservative Party wins clearly and openly, and we dont need a general to keep things orderly and calm, not like the neighboring dictatorships . . . (70, Ch 2) It is very ironic that Esteban is so oblivious to the opposing party and its power so early in the novel. He has a false sense of security knowing that his political side will always win the nations elections and furthermore, that no dictator would take charge of the country and destroy order. This characterization aids in explaining his shallowness near the end of the book when unable to admit his own error in logic, he continues to support the conservative revolution even though it becomes apparent to the rest of the country that a military dictatorship has arisen.

Over the course of ones life a skill

Over the course of one's life a skill, which serves well, is motivation. High motivation will help one get the most out of life. If a person travels through life without a purpose or reason for being, what impact will be left on the world? Most people would like to think they have made a difference in their world and will be remembered. By being motivated to do something, a person can find a way to make that impact or lasting impression. During time spent in school as children we are introduced to the need to become motivated. Teachers begin extrinsic motivation conditioning with the goal being to produce students who will start to motivate themselves intrinsically. By demonstrating to each student why getting their work done in a timely manner is vital, they will see the significance of self-motivation in their lives and try to emulate it. Motivating students is vital for effective learning; however, not all students can be motivated by the same technique. The concept of motivation in education is based on the teacher's ability to inspire, challenge, and encourage students to take an active role in their learning. Maslow argues that everyone seeks to satisfy two basic levels of needs: lower level needs, physiological, security, the need for love and belonging, and higher level needs, esteem of both self and others and self-actualization or achieving one's full potential. Once any of these needs is met, it becomes less important as a motivator. School structures sometimes perpetuate feelings of poor self-worth and low levels of motivation among students. Individual goal-setting structures allow students to define their own criteria for success. Outcome-based instruction and evaluation make it possible for slower students to experience success without having to compete with faster students. Cooperative learning activities help students realize that personal effort can contribute to group as well as individual goals. Studen

Interior Design spaces Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Interior Design spaces - Essay Example The contrasts are soft, the black and white photo that is over enlarged on the wall reflecting the hues of violet. While strictly interpreted as minimalist, the uses of color soften the overall look. The bedroom in Fig. 1 has the same concept of color use, the mildly acidic green in a wide variation of hue, mostly in the medium range. While the violet and white of Fig.2 seem to have a range within the same color, the greens have a variation of to tones, one slightly more yellow than the other. The artistic motif strings the color throughout the room, allowing for interest and movement. Both rooms use a circular motif with artistic touches to define the design elements of the space. Both rooms use a dark floor that contrasts against the white pieces within the room, creating a lifted feel to the rooms that keeps the focus high. The focal points within the space is not related to the function of either room, but what specifically relates the room in Fig. 1 to the room in Fig. 2 is that they are about the color story that is told. While the rooms are similar, the difference that can be appreciated is that the color usage in Fig. 2 is softened through the combination with the tones of grey, while the tones in Fig. 1 stand in high contrast, the greens up against the bright white.

How and why has fashion production been globalised - Essay Example Some of these product logos and brands include Versace, Louis Vuiton, Victoria secrets, and Nike among many others. In globalization, consumers draw purchasing potential from the aspect that these products associate with class, sexuality, and the immense media marketing coverage given by these media forms. Mostly, fashion products find their increase in popularity through magazines, internet, televisions, celebrity music videos, and in international films hence creating a sense of identity among the global consumers. In this regard, this essay will delve on the ways in which fashion has gone global. Fashion technique Fashion is a body related technique, which encompasses certain aspects of communication that include gestures and other body movements in the portrayal of habits. Fashion is a distinct avenue of expressing individuality and standing out among other society members. Ideally, exotic fashion wear becomes the most unfamiliar fashion dressing that portrays technicality in dis play and dressing. Further, being exotic in the westernized world implies that a clothing collection is different from preceding fashion productions depicting newness and no previous existence (Craik, 1994:17). Therefore, exoticism is a fashion technique in which consumers easily identify the products that are new and trending in the market. Certain aspects of culture and cultural norms across non-westernized cultures influence the modes of dressing and accessorizing some westernized cultures and fashion houses. For instance, fashion houses across Europe borrow distinct aspects of culture either from the saris from India, to the veils worn by Islamic women or the intense body beautification practiced by Africans. Moreover, the exotic technical aspect in fashion may ape the way of dressing from certain cultures to depict heavy fashion statements. This may include the hippie way of dressing influenced by the Indian mode of dressing and wearing draped fashion wear copied from the way p easants dress (Maynard, 2004:70). Clearly, fashion in the western world is quite contrary to social beliefs, class, and customary elements in the non-westernized cultures. For instance, in the non-westernized cultures some dressing techniques depict heavy spiritual belief and acknowledgement of religion rather the western view of being trendy and unique. Sequentially, the use of fashion and fashion production statements across non-westernized cultures is a rare phenomenon since these cultures do not emphasize the need to establish superficial identity. However, fashion trends relate to better performing economies and not to struggling economies because of the ready market and the cultural embrace given to their fashion production by fashion enthusiasts within these economies. On the other hand, decorations a fashion parade express the importance of adding value to the fashion in display (Palmer and Clark, 2005:27). Ideally, a fashion production without chunky and intensely visible d ecor appears flat and non-attractive to the eyes. Decors and accessories as fashion techniques tend to display sophistication and significant fashion knowledge. In essence, fashion creates a loud communication through the dressing that provides an avenue for people to judge one’s personal taste in fashion aspects. Additionally, fashion application and production helps in

Domestic Violence and Social Class Essay Example for Free

Domestic Violence and Social Class Essay Domestic violence is something that happens every day around the world. Young, old, rich or poor, this is an issue that we must look at to better ourselves as a country. One of the things that we look at is how domestic violence relates to the different social classes of the country, this being upper, middle, and lower. Some would thing that it would be more common in lower classes, but the reality of it is domestic violence is a problem across all social classes. In this paper I will discuss different articles about domestic violence and its relation to social class. It is clear to see that any of the articles on this topic focus around women as victims and men get put into a category of the only ones committing violence. From different articles you can see that social class has a relation and an effect on domestic violence. To begin with we need to understand what domestic violence is. The National Domestic Violence Hotline describes domestic violence as pattern of behavior in any relationship that is used to gain or maintain power and control over an intimate partner. Abuse is physical, sexual, emotional, economic or psychological actions or threats of actions that influence another person. This includes any behaviors that frighten, intimidate, terrorize, manipulate, hurt, humiliate, blame, injure or wound someone. Domestic violence can happen to anyone of any race, age, sexual orientation, religion or gender. It can happen to couples who are married, living together or who are dating. Domestic violence affects people of all socioeconomic backgrounds and education levels (The National Domestic Hotline). This is one of the best definitions you will find. Its important to realize that Domestic Violence can happen to anyone. The focus on economic background is important; there is not one ocial class that domestic violence does not occur in. It is key that we keep this in mind, otherwise we begin to label and fit certain social groups into categories. And as we will find out this is not the case at all. In Gender, Status, and Domestic Violence, by Kristin L. Anderson she discusses many issues related to domestic violence. In her article she talks about social economic status and how it can affect domestic violence. The section on social class begins with how gender and social class play very big roles with each other, or how each social class helps determine the resources available to men for the construction f masculinity (Anderson, 1995). Anderson begins with the working and lower class and how their position they hold at work lacks power and authority. This can lead to violence in the home because they search for positions of power in other aspects of their life. And many times the search for power and masculinity starts in their home life. This could be one explanation for the cause of domestic violence among low income social class. It is very clear that society even thought changing for the better over the years, still puts the man as the breadwinner of his family. And if a man annot produce for their family I agree with her that that will look for other places to find there masculinity and in some cases this is accomplished with violence against their partner. Next Anderson discusses middle and upper class together. She states with reference from another article that Middle and upper class notions of masculinity focus on ambition, responsibility, and professional employment (Segal, society. The research done in this article shows that men or women with low income jobs and less resources are more likely to be violent in their home as a means to gain the lack of power in their life. Men who have fewer resources then there female partners will be more likely to commit domestic assault than the men with resources equal or greater than their female partners (Anderson, 1995). We can see for the research done by Anderson that she focuses on the reporting of violence. I would have like to have seen some numbers on education and or employment in ration to domestic violence. But it is clear and can be understood that men base their masculinity on their economic social status, and if that status is low they begin to search for other ways to gain power, and often that is in the means of domestic iolence against their partners. Social class plays a key role in everyday life of millions around the world. So it is clear that social class would play a role in domestic violence. Knowing that domestic violence knows no boundaries it is correct to say that wealth does not protect against violence. In the article Economic stress and Domestic Violence by Claire M. Renzetti from the National Online Resource Center on Violence against Women, they bring social class and domestic violence into clear view. One discussion in the article which we have to take into account when looking at social class and domestic violence is ell put when she stats the data we have about domestic violence comes from samples to which researchers have greatest access, such as individuals who use social services and these individuals are more likely to have low incomes (Renzetti, 2009). With this in mind it is clear to see why there are so many articles on low income violence. As she states from a study done by Benson and Fox (2003) from analyzing data from the National Survey of Household and Families, the family income increases the likelihood of domestic violence decrease. It is becoming clearer hat even though we know that domestic violence knows no social class, The National Crime Victimization Survey reports the chance of violence in a low income household is five times great then the households with the highest incomes (Renzetti, 2009). As stated earlier it seems that the relation to domestic violence and employment takes a big part of the problem with violence among the social classes. In the article by Anderson early discuss she makes it clear that the feeling of power is directly related to the males economic standing. Renzetti state that sever studies have documented hey deliberate sabotage to their partners efforts to maintain paid employment (2009). We can tie that back to how males base their masculinity and power on their economic status. Women have reported that their attempts to obtain paid employment outside their homes only aggravated their partners. It is becoming clear that men see power in being the main provider in the house and to lose some of that power is demining in some ways, and can result in violence against their partners. She references an article by Bush (2003) say that paid employment if a female intimate partner is threatening for some men, especially men who are unemployed r in low paying Jobs. Renzitti states that some researchers have argued that social class has a greater influence on domestic violence risk than race/ethnicity, and that even the social class of your neighborhood plays into account. Disadvantaged neighborhoods domestic violence rates are significantly higher in neighborhoods By now it is clear that there is a relation between social class and domestic violence. In domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking by Walby Allen (2004) they discuss how it could be the domestic violence that is causing the low economical status. This is a little broader thinking then our other authors but still Walby Allen tie mans need for masculinity and power into the equation. But first to look how they discuss domestic violence as the cause for low social status, the lack of economic resources is clearly associated with domestic violence against women. But it is how we see one leading to the other that they discuss. Walby Allen purpose that maybe it is the other way around. For example that poverty and low social status are the consequences of domestic violence. Women who leave behind their homes and partners in order to escape violence will be much more ikely to be poorer as a consequence of the loss of their home and of their partners income (Walby Allen, 2004). This is a new concept to think about but can easily be seen as possible. From what we have learned low income family are more prone to domestic violence, it is clear to see if the victim does get out of this relationship they have no means of economic support. In return this Just keeps them in poverty and most likely sinks them deeper down the status pool of the world. As Walby Allen (2004) report that eventually making their way back into the abusive elationship because they have no economic support. It seems that the affect that social class and domestic violence have on each other is a never ending cycle. As we found in the research social class plays a big part in domestic violence and in some cases domestic violence plays a big part in social class. Whichever way that you look at it one constant held true across all of the articles, this being that men have been socially constructed by society to have to have the need for power in relationships. And when that power is lacking a nd they feel there masculinity is in eopardy we see domestic violence. Now a lot of the focus of the articles was on the lower class, showing that the economic stress had a direct relation to man and the need for power. We need to understand that the lower social status groups are not the only ones with a domestic violence problem. Like I said earlier domestic violence can happen across any social class, rich or poor. Most of the research that is done focuses on women in poverty because that is where the easy samples are. We know that there is a problem there, we need to move on to research that examines women ofa higher social standing. When we open up to who is we look at then we will begin to get a real grasp on the social class and domestic violence issue. Now I know that that depends on if they are willing to report, but that is a whole different topic for a different day. We have to be careful not to stereotype individuals into this field Just because of the economic standing, but it is clear that social class and domestic violence show a clear and direct relation with each other.

Tess of the d’Urbervilles and Perfume: The Story of a Murderer Essay

Control is the social construction constituting exercising authority over other beings. It can take many forms, the most prominent of which between Tess of the d’Urbervilles and Perfume: The Story of a Murderer being physical, psychological, capitalist and patriarchal. Both novels are of the Bildungsroman genre, however whilst Jean-Baptiste  Grenouille has a predatory and psychotic personality, this is something to which Tess  Durbeyfield  is subject without reciprocity until the end of the novel, and it is ultimately this  hamartia  which leads to her oppression. Physical Under the historical influence of Darwin’s natural selection, Hardy attempts to highlight the physical control that Alec has over Tess through an animalistic comparison. In a reference to the rape of Lucrece, and thus to Tess’ rape, he states ‘the serpent hisses where the sweet bird sings’. This imagery highlights the sly, predatory tendancies of Alec, and diametrically opposes them to Tess’ delicate predispositions. Later, Hardy implies  that she  is raped. ‘Feminine tissue, sensitive as gossamer’ displays Alec’s unconscious urges to control such a virgo intacta. The sibilance in this phrase contributes to Alec's presentation as a predator she is also described as ‘blank as snow’, a tabula rasa, a form of innocence Alec physically destroys. These factors, along with the traditional norms of wedding days, culminate to create a grotesque parody of a wedding night. The  moon’s later description as ‘tarnished’ is symbolic of how Tess’ has been physically abused  by Alec, although it also exposes a disrupted parallel between the moon’s 28–day cycle, and Tess’ menstrual cycle due to the development and birth of Sorrow. Assignment Internet Tools at Dirt Bikes Essay

Many organizations use the Internet and the Web technology to make their business more productive, efficient, and to cut cost. Developing a central information system or IS, is vital to organizing and storing information pertaining to all company processes. An IS will make the â€Å"six important business objectives: operational excellence; new products, services, and business models; customer and supplier intimacy; improved decision-making; competitive advantage; and survival† achievable. Laudon & Laudon, 2011) â€Å"Information systems and technologies are some of the most important tools available to managers for achieving higher levels of efficiency and productivity in business operations. † (Laudon & Laudon, 2011) A firewall is important to have to make a security barrier that ensures that the information within the company’s information systems safe from hackers and access by outside sources. A system’s firewall is just one of many ways a company can ensure the safety of their private information. All employees need to be linked in a way that will make information sharing and communication more efficient. Creating an intranet is one way to do this. Intranets allow the company’s sales and marketing, human resources, and manufacturing and production departments to have a private and protected network where they can communicate with each other. In order for this to happen, Dirt Bikes will have to invest in information technology (IT) that may seem like an unnecessary expense but will help ensure Dirt Bikes’ success in the future. Linking all of the company’s computers together in, addition to linking them to a local area network (LAN) will maximize efficiency. Implementing this software along with an intranet will allow the company’s management information system (MIS) to store, organize, and report on all company’s important and vital information. MIS allows management to develop a reporting schedule to monitor each department. With this tool, managers can identify any areas that need improvement or attention, track which promotional tactics produce the best results, and the effectiveness of advertising, to list a few benefits of a management information system. It also improves management’s ability to make executive decisions concerning their business process so that they can fulfill their business model and be profitable. Linking all employees by use of an intranet can cut the time needed to complete projects, make research and discovery (R&D) for new products and improvements easier, and monitoring the productivity of and communication between each of the company’s departments more productive. These actions alone will increase the organization and operational performance of all employees. A MIS will greatly improve this company’s overall performance and ability to be successful. With this type of system, they will be able to store all data needed for clients and keep their information safe and protected just as they do with the company information. It also organizes the information so it is easier to retrieve later. Another benefit of employing systems such as these is that they can track the sales of their products in different regions according to sales and marketing reports. They can adjust inventory, marketing, and advertising according to sales trends and demand within the industry. This is information a company needs to be successful and keep up with its competition in the industry. Using this technology will help Dirt Bikes achieve the improvement sales and profit that they desire. Wireless technology can enable them to use portable of devices whether it be a hand held or laptop so that employees can communicate while away from the workplace. This would allow them to stay in touch with their customers, suppliers, and employees from any location. This would offer the company improvement systems by making the employees able to do their jobs more effectively while away from their desks. Wireless Internet capability could be a benefit to them by allowing employees to access information, print, scan or fax from any location inside the building, and in some cases remotely from other locations as well. Wireless Internet devices can be costly but will pay for themselves in time. A website online would also be extremely beneficial to this company and will boost sales and revenue by opening up a new area of target customers. The impact of developing a company website can increase the workload of all divisions but will also product sales so communication and organization is imperative. This can be an important attribute to a growing company and provide a tremendous boost to employee productivity. The employees, and the company, will appreciate the convenience that comes with wireless devices. A website on the Internet will help boost sales and profit by increasing the company’s customer base that may not be local or able to go to the Dirt Bikes physical location. It is a useful tool the marketing division to advertise the company to a large array of potential customers. The website should provide the customer with information about the company and their product line. This is also a great way to utilize word-of-mouth advertising and cut costs for advertising. Offering online customers perks like direct shipping, or online only discount prices, can pull in additional customers that are not able to visit Dirt Bikes’ store. In addition, developing an interactive web page where customers can add comments is a good way to get feedback on customer service, products, and pricing. An online system linked to the central information system is also a great way to store and organize customer information. It will allow management to report on online sales of products and compare online versus store sales. These are just a few ways Dirt Bikes can boost sales, increase profit and cut cost of their communication within the company and to their customers. The situation that Dirt Bikes found themselves in can be remedied with technology and some new strategies to keep up with the competition in their industry. If this company does not keep up with the technology of the day, it is at risk of losing any competitive advantage it may have and face eventual failure. Making the expenditure for developing the type of systems that will store, organize, and secure company and customer data would be an immense benefit to this company. Keeping up with technology will improve decision-making, data tracking, and managing information much more effective and help this company fulfill its goals. It will help them anticipate and provide for the needs and wants of their customers in many demographic locations. It will also broaden the company’s customer base to include locations that were not accessible until utilization of the Internet and the World Wide Web. By making these adjustments and improving their business plan Dirt Bikes can re-enter the industry with renewed zest and instill fear in their competitors once again.
